… with Ms. AnonyONE’s insight.

We, PSHS scholars, are given a 4-year scholarship in the PSHS. And during enrollment time, every year, we sign a contract which restricts our college course choices to those in the Science and Technology sphere.

Some people, I think, call it unfair. But in no sense can I find it unfair. Considering that the Philippine Science High School specializes in Mathematics, Science & Technology, I think it is just right for us to be directed to the S&T sphere. If we go out of that sphere, we aer also wasting the investment of the Filipino citizens on our education.

As quoted from my Synthesis paper…

… a PSHS scholar who just slacks off, killing time in front of the computer, playing games, surfing the internet, and doing nothing productive is a representation that the government had a big loss in these people. Imagine paying hundreds of thousands of pesos for a person to work hard and bring in money to the country. It would be extremely hard on the part of the Filipino people who do not get what they invested. The money invested could have been put into better, safer investments. Those investments I am pertaining to are those which are not that profitable, but are guaranteed…

The text above pertains to PSHS scholars who do not study well and do their duties as a PSHS scholar. Though it does not directly pertain to those PSHS graduates who do not take S&T courses or work in S&T jobs, the quote is a perfect description for them. The PSHS graduate who is not involved in the S&T sphere in any way is simply wasting the huge investment of the Filipino people.

Somehow, I also think that being in the S&T sphere is very advantageous and beneficial to the PSHS scholar. It would be pointless if one enters PSHS without a zeal for S&T, therefore, it is expected of PSHS scholars to love S&T. Therefore, a PSHS scholar is expected to enjoy whatever work he ends up in the S&T sphere.

And being in the S&T sphere isn’t just anything. Being in the S&T sphere means you can be someone who can help out in the future of the Philippines. Science and Technology helps you discover things. You never know, maybe these things you can discover are the answer to the problems of the masses!
